LOVE your Skin…
Most of us women, regardless of our age simply love MAKEUP! Some of us even go as far as to spend long hours beautifying ourselves each morning before work. Looking good on the outside for us ladies, helps heighten our confidence and few of us even dare walk out the door without applying foundation. Why? Well….. we recite reasons such as ‘ooh I look too pale’ or more common excuses like ‘my skin is in awful condition’, therefore we cake on the makeup in an effort to hide pimples, blemishes, dry patches etcetera, etcetera….
The latter excuse usually leads those of us with problem skin to rush out, rashly purchase skin-cleaning products, usually exfoliators, and then spend wasted time each morning and night scrubbing our poor skin until its raw, thinking this will resolve bad skin issues. Once this is done a blob of ‘whatever moisturiser’ is then lashed onto the face before bed. Is this good enough for your skin? Especially the face that (unless one opts for drastic cosmetic surgery) is the one we wake up to and see each morning in the mirror for the rest of our lives – I think not!
When caring for your skin, the best way is the hands-on approach. This means physically looking after your skin on a daily basis by giving your skin a mini-workout. Cleansing, toning and moisturising effectively keeps skin clean, hydrated, and probably takes less time than excessive scrubbing would take. How you apply your products can help tone your skin. Implementing my mini holy trinity skin care routine on your skin will, among other boons to be named later for your benefit, greatly improve your facial contours, the tone, texture and overall appearance of your skin.
Before beginning your facial routine it is imperative to note that the thinnest layer of skin is over your face and is even thinner over your eyes, therefore, when cleansing always be gentle with your skin.
The optimum time to cleanse your skin is at night before you go to bed. During the day the skin has collected an amalgamation of dirt, grime, makeup and pollution, which, if left untreated, will clog the pores and make your skin dry, flaky, greasy, blackhead ridden and spotty. SO CLEAN..it takes and as I type I take a quick break to time how long it takes to cleanse my face……………51.3 seconds…NO EXCUSES about time ladies. If you’re wearing a lot of makeup it might take an extra 20 seconds…really how bad!!!!
Why do I need to tone, you may moan? Listen up my lovelies, toners remove excess dirt and grime, but even more important, they give the skin a wee work out by tightening pores. Great if you suffer from oily or combination skin as it helps prevent bacteria from creeping into your skin…So Tone Up, there are tons of toners on the market, though I must admit Rosewater is my favourite. For combination or oily skin, toners with Rosemary, Witchazel, Orangeflower Water or Tea Tree (for problematic skin) work best. BTW it took just 6 seconds to tone my skin.
This should be done morning and especially at night before bed. When you clean and moisturise at night, you have up to eight hours where the skin is being nourished by the creams. The ingredients get to work battling free radicals, eliminating bacteria and delivering anti-oxidants and minerals, deep into your skin….. whilst you sleep. This step took me just 34 seconds…and my skin is singing with delight, because it loves me. Okay I’ve cheated a little by showing you a cropped portion of my skin…(who of us wants to show our faces, when we are tired, at night no makeup….)
A couple of tips before I sign off tonight….
Exfoliating…depending on your age and skin type, this should be done at least once per week, AT NIGHT, and always tone and moisturise after.
Using a Mask…these deep cleanse the skin and again, should be used up to twice per week, hate to sound repetitive but, AT NIGHT ONLY, tone and moisturise after.
You just waste time and money by deep cleansing or exfoliating in the morning, as pores are opened and when you apply your makeup etc.,….you’re just reclogging them!
Ensuring you have a daily cleansing ritual, including toning and moisturising plus tossing in the above skin-workout will only add to improve your skins appearance and go far to ensure you maintain a youthful look, longer. Once your routine is underway, then you can allow yourself to invest in products, which will further serve to nourish and boost your skin giving it the overall fabulous glow you desire.
